#BePrepared - Have a Communications Plan

Emergencies often occur with no warning and can disrupt communication channels such as cellphone networks. Having a communications plan before an emergency reduces stress and helps you reconnect with loved ones.

Get started with these tips:

• Stay connected: Create a group text message or group chat on social media. Make a hard copy contact list and include common places and addresses your loved ones visit, such as their school.

• Keep devices powered: Store backup batteries, chargers or a solar powered battery pack with your emergency supplies.

• Have an emergency contact: Ask an out-of-town friend or family member to be a check-in point for updates if you cannot reach members of your household.
